The Asset management triangle is a model to exhibit the significance of relationship between the 3 primary “resources” in the management of property assets. The concept recognizes inter-relation between of these resources as an important source of information used to build knowledge. Consequently, it forms the basis for the information structure. These 3 resources are:
- Users (Who)
- Spaces (Where)
- Elements (What)
The 3 resources are the nodes of the Asset Management Triangle. They are principally data based, in other words objective / factual data is available for each. For example, the asset register, building plans etc. The data may be technical, financial (such as budget) or quantitive. Linking data from a node to data from a separate node is processing data into information. The sides of the triangle contain the processed information derived from the combination of data from the relative nodes.
